Cool down Yin ..

Cool down Yin ..

by Catherine Chidiac

As much as summer is supposed to be a “Holiday break” to relax and restore, as much as it becomes exhausting , especially in our part of the world !
Yes In the middle east, and especially in Lebanon summer IS consuming !
Friends and family visit from abroad, and daily plans start adding up on our schedule : Events, dinners, weddings , outdoor activities, beach, sun and Add to that -if you’re a parent – Kids parties, birthdays and activities.

So instead of surrendering to self consumption, and sometimes total breakdown : “Cooling down” is a must !

To do so we have to impose a time a day in our schedule when we can take a break from everything and everyone , pause the outings and retract into our bubble to restore :
This is where Yin yoga comes in .

Yin Yoga is a cooling practice, because it physically and literally lowers the body temperature ( which is perfect for summer ) .
A mindful yin practice slows down our heart rate and lower our blood pressure as we activate the parasympathetic nervous system.
It gives our mind a space to relax and unwind, allowing us to refocus and clarify thoughts when out of it .
We can practice Yin anytime during the day, but, as much as it might seem counterintuitive because the body is stiff, the mornings have the greatest impact on the stretch moving into the deeper layers of your body.
Tatiana, one of our teachers in Namat, created a perfect Yoga sequence video that you can practice anywhere at your convenience .

  • Note that If you have hyper-mobility, pregnancy or any condition consult a physician before doing Yin or any kind of physical exercise .

Yinjoy 🙂
